What is Proofreading?

Proofreading is the final step for every document. It ensures that your work is free of errors and ready for publication.

What I Do

I carefully review your document for the following:

  • Grammar, spelling, and punctuation

  • Consistent capitalization and hyphenation

  • Repeated or missing words

  • Formatting: font size and style

  • Layout consistency

The Process

  • You submit your request. Please use the contact form or send an email to me at chriskinsleyedits@gmail.com. Be sure to specify the type of document, word count, and deadline.

  • We have a consultation to discuss your needs, timeline, and budget.

  • You submit your document. I primarily work with Microsoft Word and Google Docs files, and I use the Chicago Manual of Style, Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, and The Best Punctuation Book, Period as resources.

*Please note that if the document you send me isn’t ready to be proofread, I’ll let you know. At that point, your best option would be to submit it to an editor before sending it back to me to proofread.

  • I proofread your document with a practiced and careful eye.

  • I return your document to you with tracked changes and comments if needed.

My Rates

  • My rates start at 1.2 cents per word. Every project is unique; I will consult with you regarding the length, scope, and nature of your project in order to give you a final price.
